Introduction

Millions of people are fleeing war, hunger, persecution or natural disasters. Most of them reside in third-world countries. But people also arrive in Belgium in search of a new home and a safe haven. 
At the request of the government, Red Cross-Flanders receives refugees in a tempo-rary emergency reception center in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.

Job profile

  • You ensure adequate compliance with housekeeping regulations.
  • You are jointly responsible for the practical organization of the reception center.
  • You are responsible for the psychosocial counseling of the residents (both individual and family counseling).
  • You organize activities for the residents (such as language lessons, sports, etc.).
  • Each supervisor is involved in a specific sub-task. You are responsible for the follow-up of the medical part of the operation:
           
    • You select/recognize complaints from residents and refer if necessary.
    • You attend consultations (in collaboration with the center physician) and follow up.
    • Manning the medical secretariat: scheduling appointments, inventorying pharmacy and medical supplies, setting up registration systems, checking medical invoices, fol-lowing up files, following up on admissions, etc.
    • You carry out minor care and medical treatments (first aid).
    • You follow up cooperation with: CLBs of the schools, K&G, V.R.G.T., general practi-tioners, Tropical Institute, ... and develops these.
    • You follow up and develop the prevention component.
    • You develop a training component around specific medical cases.

Your profile

  • You preferably have a degree in nursing (bachelor) or in a (para)medical field. If you have relevant nursing experience in the medical field, a degree in social sciences or humanities may al-so qualify you.
  • You have experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Ideally, you already have several years of experience in psychosocial counseling of people in vulnerable situations (e.g. as an educator, social worker,        counselor, etc.)
  • You are entrepreneurial and actively roll up your sleeves from the start.
  • You are willing to work in a shift system with weekend shifts and are flexible.
  • You are fluent in several languages (Dutch, English, French, etc.).
  • You work fluently and efficiently with different applications within MS Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint). At the same time you have        experience with electronic follow-up of resident files. Knowledge and/or experience with SharePoint is a plus.
  • You are an organizational talent and administratively accurate.
  • You are empathetic and diplomatic, but can also set clear boundaries.

Our offer

  •  Full-time position (38h/week);
  •  Replacement contract; 
  •  Shift performance (early, day and late shifts + weekend shift (1 weekend out of 3));
  • Temporary employment: duration depends on government assignment in the context of organizing emergency shelter for applicants for international protection;
    Salary according to bar scale 232 in PC 319.00. Here we include the total number of years of relevant nursing work experience, the remaining years of non-nursing work experience we take half;
  • Meal vouchers of 8 Euro per day;
  • Group insurance and possibility of joining hospitalisation insurance with personal contribu-tion
  • Commuting by train is fully reimbursed; 75% contribution for use of other public transport (bus, tram, metro, etc.); bicycle allowance of 0.36€/km; other means of transport (car, motor-cycle, etc.) is in line with sectoral and legal regulations.
